On the first duck hunt of the season a group of men went hunting in the early morning. But for them a successful duck hunt is not only about shooting a duck, sometimes beautiful sunset is reward enough.

Before sunset, the hunters walk in silence over the field. One by one they take positions around a small pond, ready for the perfect shot.

Every year Preben Holm plans more than 20 hunts for the small group of men. For him, safety is always more important than bringing home an animal.

Shots fired in the distance breaks the silence. Preben Holm’s group is not the only one hunting. But so far, the duck call is the only sound to be heard near their little pond.

Two shots are fired almost at the same time. They both hit their targets and two ducks fall from the sky. Without the dog, it would be impossible to find the prey in the field.

Rayman, the hunter’s dog, quickly fetches the duck and brings it to its owner. Rayman gets recognition, “Sit – you are good dog”.

On the way home the mood is high, duck hunting is better in rainy and windy weather. But even though the weather was too nice they are bringing home preys.

The hunters always gather for breakfast after the hunt. Today’s preys are being displayed in the garden, while the hunters shares stories of fortune and misfortune.
